Thoughtful psychiatry for women and families
Specialized psychiatric care for women across every hormonal stage, with support for children, teens, partners, and parents along the way. From puberty and development to postpartum, perimenopause, family stress, and beyond. Telehealth throughout Washington State. Longer visits. Nuanced diagnosis. Direct physician care.
Care that considers the whole picture, from hormones to development to family life
Mental health care often overlooks the context that matters most. Dr. Vartak's practice exists to close that gap by caring for women, children, adolescents, and the families who support them.
Psychiatry shouldn't treat hormones, development, physical health and family life as separate conversations.
Women's reproductive and hormonal psychiatry alongside adult and child psychiatry.
Longer appointments designed for thoughtful evaluation rather than rushed medication checks.
Coordination with therapists, OB/GYNs, pediatricians and other clinicians when appropriate.

A psychiatrist who sees the whole person — not just the symptom
"Hormones don't just affect your mood. They shape who you are, how you feel, and how you move through the world."
Dr. Shirin Vartak is a double board-certified psychiatrist in General Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, with specialized expertise in women's hormonal and reproductive mental health. Her dual training allows her to care across the full family arc - from children and teens navigating development, anxiety, ADHD, mood concerns, or early hormonal changes, to women experiencing PMDD, perinatal mood changes, perimenopause, and other hormone-related mental health concerns.
Her approach is unhurried, evidence-based, and deeply personal. Dr. Vartak believes that hormonal context is not a footnote in women's mental health. It is often central to accurate diagnosis and lasting treatment. With training in both adult and child psychiatry, she also understands how mental health lives within families, supporting not only women, but also children, teens, partners, fathers, sons, daughters, and the relationships that shape daily life.
When not in clinic, she can be found sailing, skiing in the mountains, or hiking with her dogs along the coast.

Thoughtful care for children, teens, parents, and families
Dr. Vartak is double board-certified in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. The practice cares for young people of every gender — from ADHD and anxiety to mood, development, and the turbulence of puberty — and works hand in hand with the adults who support them.
Whether it's a teenager who needs school accommodations, a child navigating a new diagnosis, or a parent coordinating everyone's care, the goal is the same: one psychiatrist who sees how a family's mental health fits together.
Evaluations, documentation, and letters that support 504 Plans and IEPs — so accommodations match what your child actually needs.
Direct communication with your child's pediatrician to keep medical and psychiatric care aligned.
Collaborative care with therapists and counselors, so medication and therapy reinforce one another.
Steady, developmentally-informed support for adolescents and parents through every stage of growing up.
"The goal isn't to feel less — it's to feel yourself again."
